Shimeijurasan Martial Arts Club is young newly established club in centre of Sheffield, closely associated with the University of Sheffield.

We are a friendly small club open to people of all ages and skills, from total beginners through experienced martial artists to a whole family.

We teach Karate as a martial art or Budo -the martial way- in other words, as a way of life. Technically speaking, JKA Karate is a refined form of Shotokan Karate, the Karate perfected by Supreme Master Funakoshi, in a larger, deeper sense it is Bushido, it is Karate based on the way and moulded by the spirit of the ancient Japanese samurai warrior, it is a way of life based on Bushido.

In true Karate, the body, mind and spirit 'the whole person' must be developed simultaneously. Through intense practice, the physical and mental aspects of Karate can be brought together. The result is natural, effortless action, and the confidence, humility, openness and peace only possible through perfect unity of body and mind.
